I have just spent the last month going to an event 4 times a week for children with special needs. Most of them have Autism Spectral Disorder (ASD) and I am here to tell you that these children are in no means of the word broken or damaged. Yes, they have their breakdowns when they get over stimulated, but don't we all?
Yes, some of them lack social graces, but don't we all at times? But most importantly, these children are some of the most loving individuals on the planet! Once you befriend them, they are as loving and as loyal as a person can be. And the reason being? Because they know no different. They do not see the wrong that someone does or possesses, they only see the love in your heart and compassion in your heart.
I think we could learn something from these young men and women. To them, everyone is the same a person. This is something we all have forgotten and need to remember. Gods know I'm trying and so should everyone else.
